The All-New Pajero will be unleashed in Australia in 2026. And just like the generations before it, this Pajero will be built with the same Dakar-winning DNA and trademark reliability.
But after years of refinement by Mitsubishi Motors, there’s even more to get excited about. The All-New Pajero is a bolder, more stylish 4WD with greater comfort, cutting-edge tech and, of course, a 10 year warranty.
The Dakar Rally is the world’s most extreme off-road endurance event. In gruelling conditions, driver and navigator race their vehicle across 8,000kms of desert, mud, rocks and foliage to be crowned the Dakar champion.
Proudly, our Mitsubishi Pajero is the most successful car in Dakar Rally history. Claiming a record 12 victories, with an unprecedented run of seven consecutive wins, it eventually earned the nickname, King of the Desert.
When the All-New Pajero launches later this year, it’ll carry that same Dakar-winning DNA and fearsome capability, now with unparalleled style, comfort and refinement.
The Pajero, beloved by generations of drivers worldwide, symbolized more than just a 4WD cross-country SUV for Mitsubishi Motors; it represented a daring vision rooted in our core values of continuous challenge and innovation. The Mitsubishi Pajero makes its official public debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 1981. It's not yet clear whether this vehicle will win rallies, master the off-road, or capture the public's admiration.
The boxy, short-wheelbase Pajero revolutionises Australia’s 4WD market, offering a new blend of genuine off-road capability and everyday comfort that no rival could match.

A ground-up redesign delivers a larger body, a more refined interior and, most importantly, the Super Select 4WD system. This world-first innovation lets drivers choose between drive modes for both high-range and low-range 4WD on different terrains.
The Pajero Evolution was produced as a special road-legal homologation vehicle, permitting Pajero's continued entry (and victory) in the Dakar Rally. Only 2,700 were ever produced, but its legacy as a powerful, rally-built racer endures.
The Gen 3 Pajero updates the separate chassis for a car-like monocoque body with fully independent suspension, transforming on-road comfort without sacrificing off-road credibility.
Pajero wins its 6th Dakar title, with Jutta Kleinschmidt behind the wheel. She’s the first, and only, woman to win the Dakar Rally.
Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, the Gen 4 Pajero brings boomerang shaped headlights, upgraded safety tech, and a refined turbo-diesel engine that will power Australians for fifteen years.
Seven. Consecutive. Wins. Pajero takes down an unprecedented record, one that still stands to this day. As Pajero achieves its historical 12th win, it’s crowned the King of the Desert.
After 40 years and four generations, production of the Pajero ceases in 2021. It’s the end of a chapter for one of the most beloved 4WDs ever sold in Australia.
